PocketSmith is a New Zealand-based Personal Financial Management application which helps global users track what they care about, get answers to ‘what if’ scenarios, create budgets to make better financial decisions and plan for a clearer financial future. Whilst I am a Customer Success Manager at Envestnet | Yodlee for the past three years, I have been a user and advocate of PocketSmith for longer than that. Upon joining Yodlee, I was pleased to take PocketSmith under my wing and be part of ensuring their users receive an accurate, insightful and personalized experience.
The reason I started the search for a PFM tool and ultimately decided to use PocketSmith was to gain better visibility of my finances and to plan for the future. Personally, I’ve been always been taught it is important to be financially responsible and have been brought up attending all kinds of financial wellness conferences. “Who knows if there will be a pension plan in place when you retire?” my parents would say.
So what made me choose PocketSmith? Envestnet | Yodlee aggregation provides the secure bank feed connections for end user’s transactions. Security and privacy is top of mind for me when it comes to innovation. With more than 12,000 institutions worldwide to connect to, PocketSmith provides their end users the ability to easily add tags to these transactions, which personally made doing my tax return less of a chore. PocketSmith enables consumers to track spending (or overspending...) on eating out or shopping for clothes, all while managing available cashflow with their budgeting calendar.
In particular, I find their ‘what if’ scenario tool very helpful. By looking at recurring income, expenses and scenarios (e.g. uncertain economic times), the ‘what if’ scenario tool can show you how much cash you should have in the bank months down the track.
